Shalyapin Chamber Hall, open in February 2001, is situated
in the very centre of Kazan - Epiphany Belfry in Baumann Street.
Owing to the unusual interior and good acoustics, which
provide special atmosphere for chamber performance, the hall attracts
particular audience.
But Shalyapin Chamber Hall is more than just a concert
hall. It is also a small museum of a great singer Fyodor Shalyapin, whose
biography is closely connected with Kazan.
The exhibition of his own things, unique records, letters
and documents of the time make one feel the atmosphere of life and work
of the great artiste and rouse respect for art.
Different excursions, concerts, mono- performances,
meetings with famous artists and musicians, photo exhibitions are organized
in the Hall. Modern audio, video and special museum equipment gives one
an opportunity to listen to music and watch films about Shalyapin.
All these make Shalyapin Chamber Hall a unique modern
cultural centre, one of Kazan historical monuments dedicated to Shalyapin.
Among such there is a sculpture of F.Shalyapin, the Epiphany Church, in
which Fyodor Shalyapin was christened, and the Chamber Hall in Epiphany
Belfry built at the time of the artist's staying in Kazan, which combines
Orthodox, Muslim, Catholic, Jewish architecture features and is now a
symbol of Kazan history and culture.
