Integration with the Russian Federation and the CIS countries
Preservation and further development of integration with the CIS countries
and the regions of the Russian Federation is very important for
the economy which avails highly developed fuel and energy complex,
machinebuilding, chemical and petrochemical industries, but lacks
metal; which avails considerable volumes of crude oil, but lacks
gasoline, kerosene and other oil products. Besides, the Republic
of Tatarstan is fully dependent on import of coal, rolled nonferrous
metals, cable products, calcinated and caustic soda, fibre board,
fabrics, paper, glass, cement, buses, trolleybuses, tramways,
tractors, excavators, bulldozers, combine harvesters, locomotives,
railway coaches, different kinds of chemical raw materials, products
of nonorganic chemistry, machinebuilding, equipment and consumer
goods. The Republic still does not cover its needs in such products
as gas, motor fuel, broken stone, timber, cardboard, mineral fertilisers,
steel pipes, cars, leather and fur products, sugar, vegetable
oil, margarine, etc. The Republic imports wallpaper, carpets and
carpet products, household radio appliances, washing and sewing
machines, bikes and motorcycles, garments, footwear, canned fish,
medications.
At the same time, the Republic still remains the exporting
region as per the basic products manufactured in the Republic.
The main export products are crude oil, products of organic synthesis,
electrical energy, trucks, cine and photo films, magnetic tapes,
different instruments, watches, household refrigerators, medical
instruments and equipment, products of household chemistry, laboratory
glass, fur articles, medications, oil equipment, gypsum stone,
automobile tires, etc. The sales market of the republican exporters
is quite wide. Thus, the Republic of Tatarstan is deeply integrated
with the economy of many regions of the Russian Federation and
the CIS countries.
