The Zelenodolsk Production Association Zavod Imeni Sergo (POZIS), an ammunition manufacturing enterprise, was founded in 1898.
Since the 1930s, it has been engaged in the production of ammunition for small calibre automatic cannons.
Being the enterprise's principal customer, the Russian Ministry of Defence has always placed most stringent demands on the quality of ammunition.
The research and production facility making part of POZIS is in constant search of optimal solutions aimed at improving the existing and developing new generations of military products jointly with developers of ammunition, materials and technologies.
Currently, the association turns out 12 types of cartridges for 23mm, 25mm, and 30mm guns and automatic cannons in service with all fighting services, 36 varieties of explosive charges for aerospace equipment and two types of 40mm rounds for the grenade launcher that attaches to the world-famous Kalashnikov assault rifle these being the service, practice (without explosive) and training versions.
Practically all types of weapons systems equipped with up to 30mm automatic cannons, including export versions, are supplied with POZIS ammunition.
The latter features high reliability in the temperature range from -60 C to +80 C with a fail-safe probability index of about 0.9999.
Modern technologies for the manufacture of shell cases and bodies from metal bars by the method of extrusion and deposition of decoppering driving bands and also the use of unique rotary production lines for final assembly of cartridges, developed and produced by POZIS, allow for high quality and low unit cost.
This is due to our comparatively low prices and also to the fact that a considerable number of our products are latest-generation articles, featuring higher effectiveness mainly due to an increased explosive mass. For instance, the 23mm POZIS HE/incendiary shell carries an additional 30% of explosive as compared with a licence-made foreign analogue. Latest-generation cartridges produce a combined effect on the target, i.e., HE/incendiary, fragmentation with the use of prefragmented elements, and higher armour penetration. For visual observation of fire effects, certain types of projectiles enclose tracer elements.
Worthy of special mention is a large group of POZIS-made explosive cartridges for Russian aerospace equipment, including ejection seat cartridges, which are rated among the best in the world, thereby confirming the reliability of products turned out by the association.
Of considerable interest ar also 40mm complete rounds for the GP-25 grenade launcher which attaches under the barrel of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, with a firing range of up to 400m. Their impact fuze remains effective even over snow, bog and water surface. The grenade of the VOG-25P round can also be used to engage personnel in open trenches, being pre-set to explode at a height of 1.5-2m.
POZIS products are delivered to 33 European, Asian, African and certain American countries. Their competitiveness is due not only to low cost, but also to high operational reliability in any climate and high effectiveness.
Foreign customers highly assess our ammunition used on such famous aircraft as MiG-17, MiG-19 and MiG-21, and latest models MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-27, MiG-31, Su-17, Su-25, Su-27 and others.
Along with the 80-year-old manufacture of artillery rounds, POZIS also produces hunting, sporting and signal cartridges of equally high quality and technical standard. These articles are highly reputed by Russian and CIS hunters owing to their trouble -free operation and close pattern of fire.
The indisputable high quality of POZIS products and constant improvements in the production process have been highly assessed by foreign customers and Russia's Government. Everybody who operates or will operate advanced Russian combat platforms fitted with automatic cannons, ejection systems or perhaps the Kalashnikov assault rifle with the under-barrel grenade launcher, should know that the best ammunition for them is produced at the Zeienodolsk Production Association Zavod Imeni Sergo (POZIS).
