 General information
TATNEFT Amalgamation is one of the leading oil producing
enterprises in the CIS. In the Republic of Tatarstan it carries
out the whole range of activities related to exploration and
development of oil fields, oil production and oil treatment to
ensure the export quality. TATNEFT also deals with sale of oil
to the customers in Russia as welt as to the other countries of
the world.
There are 50 enterprises and organizations incorporated
into the Amalgamation including 13 oil producing units, 7
drilling boards, a big Research and Design Institute, an
External Economic Company and other units of production and
social infrastructure which provide independent solutions of
many tasks.
Unlike majority of foreign oil firms and companies, TATNEFT
has to deal not only with direct production issues, but to build
on its own expense both oil and social objects, such as roads,
communication systems, production and maintenance of equipment,
production of consumer goods and food stuffs for its 85000
employees.
TATNEFT produced about 25 million tons of oil in 1993. High
viscosity oil and bitumen deposits at the depth down to 400
meters are another potential source of hydrocarbons, geological
reserves of which are some billions of tons.
Since 1989 TATNEFT has considerably expanded its foreign
economic activities. Six Joint Ventures with foreign capital
share (including 3 with companies of the USA, Germany and
France) have been established. They are involved in oil fields
development, oil recovery enhancement, well stimulation,
environment protection.
Export potential of TATNEFT, accumulated experience,
scientific and technical methods and approaches employed in oil
field developments and highly trained personnel open still new
broader opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation with
firms and banking institutions of the other countries worldwide
in the areas of oil production and associated infrastructure
development in the Republic of Tatarstan.
