Communication facilities

The Republic of Tatrstan has extensive communication network with large capacity of telephone channels.
The development of communication facilities in the Republic is performed according to the special programme "Tetefonizatsia- 2000".
International satellite communication station started its work in Kazan in 1993. It provides an access to practically any country of in the world. Cellular radio-phone communication is also being developed.
In 1994 it is planned to put into operation the digital automatic phone stations based on the equipment by Alcatel (Germany).
TV and radio broadcasting in the Republic is performed by the state TV and radio broadcasting company "Tatarstan". TV broadcasting covers 99% of the population in the Republic; among them 41% can watch three and more channels; 54% - two channels; 4% - one channel.
