of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tatarstan
to mass media leaders
The Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tatarstan decided to conduct the
referendum on the determination of the legal state status of the Tatarstan Republic on March 21, 1992. This decision is the important question of state life, concerning the
fortune of the multinational Republic, the interests of each citizen. It will determine the future progressive way of the development of its statehood, relations with the Russian Federation and other republics and states on the basis of equal
agreements for the purpose of consolidation of all-round neighborly relations between the CIS and their peoples.
The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tatarstan applies to leaders of mass media, to journalists of the Republic of Tatarstan, of the Russian Federation, of the CIS with request for the responsible and weighed approach to the
reflection of political life in the Republic of Tatarstan and, by means of this, to promote the conducting of the referendum under conditions of peace and consent.
