LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVE
of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tatarstan
to Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Russian Federation, Yeltsin B.N.
Dear Mr.Yeltsin:
In connection with drafting the new Constitution of the Russian Federation,
the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tatarstan using its right of legislative initiative and according to article 110 of the acting Constitution of the Russian Federation
makes a suggestion:
1. to exclude from article 56 the words: "The Republic of Tatarstan (Tatarstan)".
2. to include the additional article 56.1 of the following contents:
"The Republic of Tatarstan is the sovereign state, a subject of international law, associated with the Russian Federation - Russia on the basis of the Treaty on mutual delegation of authorities and subjects under jurisdiction."
