ACADEMY OF NONLINEAR SCIENCES

1

The Academy of Nonlinear Sciences (ANS) is an inter-regional, international social unification which consists of most authoritative scientists who have obtained improved research results in the field of nonlinear mathematics, nonlinear mechanics, nonlinear physics, nonlinear theory of stability, oscillations, control, decision making, and also their applications models to other natural and social sciences namely (biology, cybernetics, sociology, economics, ecology, design sciences for aerospace and other systems, complex researches for strategic problems of security, system development, etc.).
ANS was organized in 1995 (Moscow). The activity of the Academy of Nonlinear Sciences aims to assist the development in the above mentioned fields of sciences, in the professional consolidation of scientists working in different fields of nonlinear sciences and their applications, and also to assist in the coordination of fundamental and applied researches.
Academy is interconnected with the Russian Academy of Sciences, the International Federation of Nonlinear Analysts, Universities, and all other institutions and organizations who are interested in the development of nonlinear sciences and their applications.
The Presidium is situated in Moscow. (The departments of ANS were created in different regions of RUSSIA and World).
State Universities constitute the basis of every department of ANS, by contributing annual fees of US$ 1000.

2

The activity of the Academy also aims to the assistance for achievement or the following purposes and problems:
  • to pursue research in different fields of fundamental and applied nonlinear sciences and their applications to different areas, which make use of nonlinear mathematical models, methods, and algorithms of decision making;
  • to organize and work out international, Russian and other scientific programs and projects, which require the use of nonlinear models and methods;
  • to organize international and Russian symposiums, conferences, and scientific sessions, competitions, public and educational projects in different fields nonlinear sciences;
  • to make independent expertise of different projects and programs from the point of view of their applicability and suitability with regard to nonlinear mathematical models and methods;
  • to create temporary groups based on contracts or competitions, for solving any problems of nonlinear sciences;
  • to prepare a regular human potential in different fields of nonlinear sciences;
  • to attract young scientists for the research in nonlinear sciences, and to create any facilities for increasing their scientific qualification and status;
  • to organize competition of scientific works and to award prices and medals of the Academy for outstanding results in fields of fundamental and applied nonlinear sciences;
  • to help in the creation of financial or social supports for scientific researches, if it is necessary;
  • to create institutions, scientific centers, and departments for researches in different fields of nonlinear sciences and their applications;
  • in connection with real legislation, the Academy may carry out publishing or advertising activities concerning scientific knowledge in different fields of nonlinear sciences.

3

The members of the Academy can be citizens of Russia, as well as of foreign countries, and they also can be legal entities.
To be elected to the ANS, scientists must have a Doctor of Science degree, have enriched the non-linear sciences with contributions of paramount theoretical and applicational significance and have contributed to the training of highly skilled scientific staff.
The admittance of applicants to membership of the Academy is carried out by Presidium of Academy, on the base of their personal written candidature and recommendations of two members of Academy, by ballot of more than half of the Presidium.
Honorary members of the Academy can be outstanding Russian or foreign scientists who obtained great results in nonlinear sciences.
The admittance of legal entities as members of the Academy is carried out on the base of the decision of their chairmen and of the Presidium of the Academy.

4

The members of the Academy have the following rights:
  • to participate in works of annual conference of the Academy, and to vote;
  • to elect and to be elected in the Academy bodies;
  • to take part in scientific sessions of the Academy;
  • to freely retire from the Academy, by providing a written statement to the Presidium;
  • to carry out any questions (including suggestions, and changes to the statutes) in the discussions of Presidium, and Conferences of Academy;
  • to recommend any new member in the staff of the Academy.
The members of the Academy must:
  • observe statutes of the Academy;
  • participate in the activity of the Academy (conferences, realization of decisions of the Academy bodies,...);
  • pay an entrance fee US$ 100.

5

Some Branches of the Academy are created on territorial principles. There are in the Academy the Sections on different directions of nonlinear sciences, and interdisciplinary researches. At present, there are four sections in ANS:
Nonlinear mathematics and their applications
Nonlinear mechanics and their applications in engineering
Nonlinear theory of stability, oscillations, and control
Nonlinear modeling in natural, technical, and social sciences.
The leading organ of each Branch of the Academy is the Assembly conducted not less than once per year, and it is authorized to solve any question concerning the Branch. In the period between these meetings, the activities are directed by the board of the Branch, headed by a chairman who is elected for a period of 5 years.
The chairman of Branch must be a recognized high level scientist. The secretary of the Branch must be a person who practices both English and Russian languages, and has Doctor degree.
The Branch participates in the work of the Academy bodies through a representative, who may be the chairman or the secretary of the Branch. All activities of the Branch is carried out accordingly to the statutes of the Academy.
The Branch can be authorized as a legal entity: in this case, it works accordingly to its own statutes, which have not to be in contradiction to the statutes of the Academy, and registers to the local legal entities.
At present in ANS there are 8 Branches in Russia and other countries; in framework of ANS three scientific Journals are organized and published (in Russia, Kazan, and RSA, Durban).

The highest leading organ of Academy is the annual conference, and the highest leading organ between two annual conferences is the Presidium. Official languages of ANS. are Russian and English.
President of ANS is Vladimir M.Matrosov
tel./fax: 007 (095) 932-78-80
