Multiple time scale dynamic systems arise in many fields of science and engineering, such as biology, chemistry, economics, physics, aerospace engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and many others. Such systems are described adequately by singularly perturbed sets of differential equations ([1,2,3,4] and references therein).

The following five papers were presented at the invited session:

1. Reusable Launch Vehicle Control Via Time-Varying Multiple Time Scale Sliding Modes, by Yuri B.Shtessel (University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL USA), James Stott (University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL USA), and J. Jim Zhu (Ohio University, Athens, OH USA).

2. Infinite Horizon Differential Games for Multiparameter Singularly Perturbed Systems, by Hua Xu (University of Tsukuba, Tokio, Japan), and Hiroaki Mukaidani (Hiroshima University, Higashi-Hiroshima, Japan).

3. Exponential Stability in the Presence of Singular Perturbations, by G. Grammel (Munich Technical University, Munich, Germany).

4. Singularly Perturbed Linear Controlled Systems with Small Delays: An Overview of Some Recent Results, by V.Ya.Glizer (Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel).

5. A Singular Perturbation-Like Approach to Asymptotic Tracking in Non-minimum-Phase Nonlinear Systems, by Joo-Young Lee (LG Electronics Inc., Seoul, Korea), Ju-Il Lee (Philips Research Laboratories, Eindhoven, The Netherlands), and In-Joong Ha (Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea).

These papers represent various issues of singular perturbations theory and applications. The session was organized by Professor Lyubomir T.Gruyitch (Belfort-Montbeliard University of Technology, Belfort-Montbeliard, France). The author of this paper was the Chairperson at this session.
