In 2005 the Kazan Science Center of the Russian
Academy of Sciences (KSC RAS) has noted the 60-th Anniversary. It was
established in 1945 as Kazan Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Since 1946
the researches in mechanics were carried out in Kazan Branch.
The
outstanding mechanical engineer, professor H.M.Mushtary, the founder of the
Kazan school of the nonlinear shells theory, was the director (1946 - 1972) of
Kazan Physical Technical Institute, in which he was the head of the Department
of the Theory of Shells more than 30 years. Corresponding Member of the Academy
of Sciences N.G.Chebotarev organized Sector of Mathematics. The Theory of
Filtration became the main scientific direction of Sector of Mathematics. A
valuable contribution to the development of mechanics at Kazan Physical
Technical Institute was made by Sh.U.Galiev, K.Z.Galimov, M.S.Ganeeva,
B.V.Gulin, V.L.Danilov, M.A.Ilgamov, M.S.Kornishin, G.S.Salekhov, I.V.Svirskiy,
V.V.Skvortsov, I.G.Teregulov, V.D.Chugunov and others.
The
Institute of Mechanics and Engineering of Kazan Science Center of the RAS (IME
KSC RAS) was founded in 1991 on the basis of mechanics departments of Kazan
Physical Technical Institute. The organizer and first Director (1991 - 1996) of
the Institute was Corresponding Member of the RAS M.A.Ilgamov. In 1996-98
V.L.Fedjaev, nowadays D.Sc., fulfiled the duties of the director of IME. Since
1998 the director of the Institute is D.A.Gubaidullin, the Corresponding Member
of the RAS.
The
main theoretical and experimental investigation tendencies of the Institute
are:
non-linear mechanics of thin-walled constructions,
hydroaeroelastic and wave systems (scientific schools of professor H.M.Mushtary
and Corresponding Member of the RAS M.A.Ilgamov);
dynamics of multiphase multicomponent media in
porous structures and technological plants (the scientific consultant
Academician R.I.Nigmatulin);
non-linear stability theory of control systems
with changeable structure (the scientific advisor Academician V.M.Matrosov).
In
the Institute the theory of strong interaction of thin-walled structures with
fluids taking into account large displacement of the contact surface is
developed. Systems which are the models of engines, pipe-lines, parachutes,
superconducting cable, bioshells etc. have been investigated. The intensive
nonlinear oscillations of gas and aerosol in tubes have been experimentally and
theoretically investigated.
A theory of propagation of waves in the
polydispersed vapor-gas-droplets suspensions, a theory of stability of the
spherical shape of gas bubble in liquid, stability and dynamic of shells with
filler, algorithms of calculation of strength
of shells of complicated geometry under intensive thermo-force loading, the method of
definition of mechanical properties of films and membranes of inhomogeneous
structure have been developed. Methods of identification of filtration
parameters of oil, gas and water-bearing reservoir have been developed. Models of water flooding of reservoir with application of polymerdispersed systems
have been constructed. Mathematical models of heat and mass transfer in heat
exchangers and filters of technological plants, systems of water cooling,
methods of strengthening of cooling towers bodies, constructions of ventilators
have been developed. Relativistic dynamics of variable weight of rest is
advanced. Method of vector functions by Lyapunov was developed for
investigating the stability of non-linear systems of control and systems with
random structure changes.
The results of researches are used at the
factories of oil production, petrochemistry, machine industry. The researches
are carried out with usage of the high-performance computing systems
MVS-1000/16K and νKVS-ε112. There are 8 experimental installations in the Institute, among them
the altitude tunnel, installations for research of non-linear oscillations of
aerosols, mechanical properties films and membranes.
The Institute is currently engaged in:
programs of basic researches of Presidium of
RAS "Fundamental problems of information science and information production
engineering", "Control processes",
programs of basic researches of Department of
power engineering, machine industry, mechanics and control processes of RAS
"Dynamic and acoustics of inhomogeneous fluids, gas-liquid systems and
suspensions", "Development of mechanics of multiscale (from nano- to
macroscales) straining and destruction as bases of designing of new materials
with increased operational characteristics", "Accumulation of damage,
destruction, wear process and structural changes of materials under intensive
mechanical, temperature and radiant effects",
grants RFBR, Contracts with factories.
