Anisotropy, critical parameters and classical model applicability in stability problem of composite shell

Influence of anisotropy of multilayer cylindrical shells properties on the critical parameters in a typical case of stability loss due to axial compression is investigated. Solution is based on the classical theory of shells with an invariable normal. Singularities of orthotropic shells behavior under stability loss are specified. Criterion for applicability of the classical model of shells with an invariable normal is presented. By means of comparative experimental and theoretical analysis the correction empirical coefficients are established.
