Problems of non-linear Analysis in Engineering Systems

5 Years

International Journal “Problems of non-linear Analysis in Engineering Systems” is celebrating a fifth anniversary. The Journal was born in Kazan, in Kazan Aviation Institute, that is collective Member of Scientific Associations, IFNA and ANS. This Edition had main clear idea: to unit the theorists and the applied-scientists, the specialists and the professionals from various scientific disciplines; to concentrate the attention on advanced-actual directions of our Knowledge. Five Years of this Edition: it is 5 volumes; 10 issues. Our Founders-Constitutors: KAI, IFNA, ANS.

KAI – Kazan Aviation Institute (Kazan State Technical University of A.N.Tupolev’s name) is known Higher Education Institution, that was organized in Kazan, in 1932, on the initiative of Professor N.G.Chetayev. Excellent specialist in area of Mathematics and Mechanics, N.G.Chetayev, returning to Kazan from scientific visit in Germany, Göttingen University, was conceived by the idea to create in Kazan the Higher Education Institution (HEI) of new type, with fundamental engineering education for aviation industry. Energetic, talented activity led to positive results: KAI became one from leading HEI of aviation engineering Education; and Chetayev’s School of Mechanics and Stability is well-known in World as smithy of scientific-educational specialists, Professors-Scientists, of higher qualification, that are splendidly uniting fundamental Science and applied problems.

IFNA – International Federation of Non-linear Analysts is founded in 1991-1992 on initiative of Professor V.Lakshmikantham (USA) as transdisciplinary world society. It is uniting the specialists from different areas, including all kinds of arts and sciences, from medicine to mathematics. The motto is “Unity in Diversity”, which is splendidly realized in real World. At present, IFNA has over 300 members in different countries, realizing huge activity through Branches in Russia, USA, Ukraine, Italy, China, India, Bulgaria,…

ANS – Academy of non-linear Sciences is United Scientists Organization, Scientific inter-regional, international Association. It consists of authoritative scientists, actively working in Science, in the fields of non-linear mathematics, mechanics, physics; nonlinear theory of stability, oscillations, control, decision-making…, and also in applications domain of nonlinear models and methods to other natural and social, humanistic sciences (including biology, cybernetics, economics, sociology, ecology, design sciences for aerospace,…; complex researches for safety problems, strategic problems of development,…). ANS is organized in 1995 by academician V.Matrosov (Russia). The activity of ANS aims to assist the development on all fields of Sciences and the professional consolidation of Scientists, working in various areas of nonlinear sciences and applications. Academy has four Scientific Sections: nonlinear mathematics and applications; nonlinear mechanics and applications; nonlinear theories of stability, oscillations and control; nonlinear modelling in natural, technical, humanistic sciences. The activity of ANS is conducted by regional and foreign Branches, by russian and foreign members.

The necessity in the joint activity, in this triple alliance was brought about series objective circumstances, similarity of set aims and tasks in Science and Education, in scientific associations, academic Universities.

The trend of the present century, the increasing compartmentalization and concomitant specialization of knowledge, is undergoing subtle changes. The age of living in the increased estrangement between disciplines in the arts and sciences is slowly waning. The ideal of productively and deeply working in two or three disciplines which are not contiguous in the current geography of thought, such as mathematics and anthropology, political science and music, history and mathematics,… is seen as within the real of possibility.

The idea, that we should, of course, continue to value academic specialization but must also work for integration of knowledge and the re-establishment of truly liberal learning as the coherent intellectual core of academic institutions, is rapidly gaining ground. Moreover the attempt to understand the nonlinear world is dominating large parts of mathematics in which is bound to increase in the next century.

Thus, there is definite need to have a forum, on a global basis, to forge unity in diversity and for bringing more cooperation and collaboration into the world community of nonlinear analysts. It is main spirit of IFNA, ANS, all our Founders and our Journal.

Official Plenipotentiary Lyudmila K.Kuzmina

of IFNA RB Co-Editor
