The Baltic State Technical University "Voenmekh" is a famous educational center for Russian defense industry. Specialists graduated from the Voenmekh are working in the most of high-tech enterprises and scientific centers of Russia and CIS.

The Institute of Laser Technique and Technologies (ILTT) is a part of the Baltic State Technical University. In accordance with the best university traditions, our students receive a comprehensive engineering education. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics, design, mechanical engineering, industrial equipment, material technology, informatics and humanitarian sciences are all included in our academic program. To meet the demands of the contemporary world, students also study computer information technologies, computer automated design, laser technique technologies, and international technical and scientific management. Students that graduate from our institute can easily adapt to different business environments and fields of work.

The ILTT cooperates closely with leading laser centers in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities. Students obtain hands on experience by visiting and working in their labs. Only the best experts are invited to give lectures at ILTT.

The ILTT has several labs for teaching and scientific research. There is a laser processing lab, optical lab, high power laser lab and a computer automated design lab. They are equiped with solid state lasers, including the unique Nd-glass laser with 3 kJ pulse energy. Other lasers such as electrical discharge CO and CO2 lasers, the ion Ar laser, He-Ne lasers, semiconductor lasers and the 15 kW combustion-driven gas-dynamic laser are available in ILTT's labs. There are branches of ILTT in the Laser Technology Center (NIIEFA) and in the Russian Scientific Center of Applied Chemistry. Here students study high power chemical lasers and modern laser technologies.

The ILTT staff of professors, scientists and engineers, successfully combines rich experience with young, creative energy. All of ILTT's professors hold Ph.D. or Doctor of Science degrees.

The ILTT offers the following degrees:

1. Specialist (Engineer) of Laser Systems (5.5 years). This is a traditional Russian degree program. A student may specialize in the following: High Power Gas-flow Lasers, Laser technologies or Informational and Biomedical Laser Technologies.
2. Bachelor of Technique and Technology in Aerospace Engineering (4 years).
3. Master of Technique and Technology in Aerospace Engineering and the Master Educational Program of Laser Systems (6 years or 2 years with a Bachelor's).
4. Doctorate (Candidate of Sciences) of Mechanics of Liquids, Gases, Plasma and Other Specialties (3 years after the Masters degree).

The language of instruction is Russian. The University offers intensive Russian language courses for one year. A Master's thesis can be written in English. Some instruction of the Masters program can be conducted in English.

Graduated students are awarded with a diploma from the state and an academic certificate. The certificate is in both Russian and English. The University has a rich technical library and several reading rooms. Students can improve their sporting skills and take part in many different competitions. ILTT is located in the central part of St. Petersburg city. Public transportation is easily accessible.
