XXII Scientific Conference on Astronautics, that are devoted to the memory of the Academician S.P.Korolyov and other outstanding scientists - pioneers of the development of the outer space, which were held in Moscow, 27 - 30 January, 1998. According to the traditions of Russian science, the Conference on Astronautics, were held as a scientific measure, reflecting a level of completed researches on the most urgent modern problems of Astronautics.
According to a themes of the reports, it is possible to define the structure of the basic areas of a space science, that were submitted, as follows:
fundamental researches;
humanitarian aspects of study of space activity;
research of questions of Astronautics history.
The results of researches were submitted on 8 sections.
The participants of the scientific Conference adopted the developed resolution on improvement of Conference having taken into account of perspectives of the Astronautics development at a new stage of space activity of mankind.

The participants of Conference ascertain:
The development of Astronautics in the last decade, connected with large-scale assimilation of outer space for needs of mankind, has much expanded the structure of branches of the science and engineering, ensuring this development.
Scientific legacy of outstanding scientists of our country, pioneers of assimilation of outer space, has been actively continueing to be worked out and developed today by scientific schools of their founders, that finds incarnation in advanced samples of space-rocket engineering.
The annual Scientific Conference on Astronautics have generated as the tool of display of collective processes of obtaining of new knowledge in the field of assimilation of outer space. The consideration of modern Astronautics achievements, alongside with study of its history, develops system of knowledge, which is necessary for further progress on all directions of assimilation of outer space. One of confirmations of this situation is recently created the bibliographical index of the reports of scientific Conference for 20 years and nominal index of the authors, which is unique research base of Astronautics historiography.
The public - useful function of Conference on Astronautics requires of increasing of a scientific level and improvement of their organization. For this purpose constant attention and participation of the appropriate branches of RAS, Russian Astronautics Agency, basic Scientific-Research Institutes and Design Bureaus of space-rocket branch, Aerospace Force and higher education establishments are necessary.
The participants of Conference offer:
To consider the development and updating of knowledge system, ensuring assimilation of outer space and of extra-terrestrial objects for needs of mankind with use of rockets and space vehicles as a main priority of Conference on Astronautics.
For the decision of a problem of maintenance of the most complete reflection of processes of the development of the system of knowledge on Astronautics to specify thematic structure of Scientific Conference according to a modern condition and prospects of the development of Astronautics.
To support the initiative of the Commission of RAS on development of scientific legacy of pioneers of outer space assimilation on creation of the Bibliographical index of the reports of Scientific Conference for 22 years, that will be unique information base for historiographical researches of Astronautics, and to carry out its edition.
The materials of annual Scientific Conference have quite certain value for a scientific-engineering public of Russia. Their importance will immeasurably increase, if alongside with oral discussion on Conference they will be published in the Proceedings of Conference, issued as the special book. Steering Committee must carry out the annual editions of elected Proceedings on materials, recommended by sections to the publication.
Steering Committee of Conference will recommend to acquaint with basic results of the Presidium of RAS, Russian Astronautics Agency, basic scientific organizations and High Schools of space branch.
