14th IFAC Symposium on Automatic Control in Aerospace Aerospace Technology on the threshold of 3rd Thousand Years (Seoul, August 1998) Ye.I. Somov Stability and Nonlinear Dynamics Research Center (SNDRC), RAS Institute of Systems Dynamics and Control Theory, RAS SB The regular l4th IFAC Symposium on Automatic Control in Aerospace was held from 24 to 28 August, 1998 at the Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. This symposium was sponsored by the International Federation on Automatic Control (IFAC) Technical Commitee on Aerospace, and cosponsored by both the Automatic Control Research Center at Seoul National University (SNU) and the Korea State Aerospace Research Institute. Fifty-nine contributed papers from 17 countries were presented in 19 sessions , representing up-to-date scientific-technical achievements in the field of guidance and control of aerospace systems. Also, six plenary speakers were invited from the USA, Germany, Japan, and Korea to present a variety of works on automatic control in aerospace. The paper preprints were published by the SNU. The following list of topics is of relevance to the symposium (http://asri.snu.ac.kr/~ifac98aero):
The most significant among the plenary summa rizing lectures are as follows: J.L. Speyer, USA Control of Dynamic Systems in Spatial Networks: Applications, Results, and Challenges; E. Gottzein, Germany Challenges in Control and Autonomy of Future Communication Satellites. Invited papers from Russia were presented by the leaders of the Russian Space Angency (RKA): Research and Production Assosiation Applied Mechancs (NPO PM, Krasnoyarsk) and Central Specialized Design Bureau (TsSKB, Samara) which in 1999 are celebreting the 40th anniversary of their foundation in the capacity of S.P. Korolev Rocket-Space Design Bureau divisions. These papers are as follows: V.A. Bartenev, V.A. Malyshev, V.A. Rayevsky, G.P.Titov, Ye.I. Somov Orbit and Attitude Control Systems of Russian Communication, Geodetic and Navigation Spacecraft; D.I. Kozlov, G.P. Anshakov, Yu.G. Antonov, V.P. Makarov, Ye.I.Somov Precision Control Systems of Motion on Russian Spacecraft for Ecological Remote Sensing. General sessions were successful and 32 papers were selected to be suggested for publication in the IFAC journals: Automatica, Control Engineering Practice and Space Technology. All presented papers will published in Proceedings of the 14th IFAC Simposium on Automatic Control in Aerospace (ISBN 0-08-043041) by Publisher Elsevier Science, Oxford, UK in May 1999. The IFAC Technical Commitee on Aerospace has initiated works for the next 15th Simposium on Automatic Control in Aerospace, which will be held at the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy in 2001. |
