In 1998 the following personnel participated in the Academy’s activities: 20 Full Members, 8 Corresponding Members and 30 Academic Councilors of the Academy located in Samara, Saratov, Penza, Izhevsk, Miass. These people were involved in development of fundamental and applied inventions in Rocket and Space Science, Technology and Education in seven major research areas.

Conducted technical lecturing on ‘Contribution of Samara Region to the Development of Rocket and Space Technology’ and Scientific session at “Aviatechnokon” Scientific and Research Park of Volga Region.

Headed an outdoor meeting of Scientific and Research Council in Saratov on ‘Fundamental and Applied Inventions in Precision Instruments’. The meeting resulted in decisions to support the conversion projects of “Korpus” Company in the field of medical equipment, integration of high education with fundamental research in mechanics, development of gyroscopic and sensory units.

Participated in All-Russia Technical Conference in Samara on ‘Aircraft Construction in Russia: Problems and Perspectives’. The meeting material was published in a booklet with Scientific works collection.

Organized a course of lectures on ‘System Implications and Innovative Applications of Satellite Navigation’ under the aegis of AGARD-RTO involving leading American scientists from Charles Stark Draper Laboratory and University of Ohio.

Participated in Regular All-Russia School Competition ‘Olympic Marathon of V.P. Lukachev’, and conducted contest for Academy Trophy in the field of cosmonautics and technical arts in country schools; provided guidance manuals to aerospace evening school.

Organized photo-exhibition devoted to the 80th Service Anniversary of D.I. Kozlov, General Manager and Chief Engineer of “CSKB-Progress” Scientific Production and Research Center.

Constantly updated the Branch’s site on The Internet (www.samara.ru/~cosmos).
