In November, 1997 at the Kazan State University (KSU) after
a long pause the well known School on the magnetic resonance has renewed
the work. It has become possible after the joint project KSU and Kazan
Physical Technical Institute of RAS on realization of School of young scientists
'' Actual problems of the magnetic resonance and its applications '' has
received support of the Federal program ''INTEGRATION''.
This School is a prolongation of work of scientific schools
on problems of the magnetic resonance took place in USSR regularly, with
an interval two years, under guiding of the professor G.I.Skrotskii (Moscow
Physical Technical Institute) with participation of scientists practically
of all republics USSR, their Academies of sciences and colleges. These
schools promote creation of the community of the investigators of highest
qualification which has determined a leading position USSR, and later,
Russia in a world science in the field of the theory and experiment of
magnetic radiospectroscopy.
The magnetic resonance is one of outstanding discoveries
in physics of the XX century. It allows to obtain rather rich, ccasionally
unique information about a structure and internal interactions in condensed
matter at a microscopic scale. Electron paramagnetic resonance phenomenon
was discovered by E.K.Zavoiskii in Kazan in 1944. This and the numerous
fundamental investigations carried out by the scientists of the KSU and
KPTI have made Kazan a well known center of the magnetic resonance in Russia,
CIS and whole world. As a result in Kazan highest level international conferences
on the magnetic resonance was organized, the international journal ''Applied
Magnetic Resonance'' and electronic international magazine ''Magnetic Resonance
in Solids'' are published, international Zavoiskii Prize was established,
more than 50 doctors of sciences are actively working in the field of magnetic
radiospectroscopy.
The topic of the School and list of the lecturers were
determined by presidentship of the School (rector - Prof. M.S.Tagirov,
KSU and provst - Prof. V.A.Zhikharev, KPTI) and Program committee, which
include Prof. V.A.Atsarkin (IRE, Moscow; the chairman of committee), Prof.
A.V.Aganov (KSU, Kazan), Prof. B.I.Kochelaev (KSU, Kazan), Prof. I.V.Ovchinnikov
KPTI, Kazan), Corresponding member of RAS, Prof. K.M.Salikhov (KPTI, Kazan),
Prof. M.A.Teplov (KSU, Kazan), Prof. Yu.V.Yablokov (KPTI, Kazan). The School'97
was devoted to discussion of one of the most up-todate problems of modern
physics - ''Magnetic resonance in high-temperature superconducting (HTSC)
compounds''. The lectures listed below testifies deep and multifold arguing
of a problem:
-
V.A.Atsarkin (Institute of Radioelectronics, Moscow)'' The investigation
of HTSC by the method of longitudinal electronic relaxation ''
-
B.I.Kochelaev (KSU, Kazan) '' Magnon bottle-neck in HTSC ''
-
S.V.Verkhovskii (Institute of Metal Physics of RAS, Ekaterinburg) '' NMR
research of a magnetic states of Cu atoms and reasons of Tc degradation
in radiation - disordered YBaCuO ''
-
M.A.Teplov (KSU, Kazan)'' Inhomogeneous distribution of charges and spins
in CuO2 planes of superconducting cuprates 123 ''
-
Yu.I.Talanov (KPTI, Kazan) '' A Research of distribution of a magnetic
field in II-type superconductors using of surface paramagnetic probes
''
-
A.V.Dooglav (KSU, Kazan) '' NMR and NQR in nonsuperconducting 123-compounds
''
-
Yu.V.Yablokov (KPTI, Kazan) '' A Paramagnetic resonance of magnetic centers
in La-Sr-Cu-O and its structural analogs ''
-
M.V.Eremin (KSU, Kazan) '' A Model of conduction band in HTSC ''
-
S.B.Orlinskii (KSU, Kazan) '' EPR investigation of structural and dynamic
effects in fullerences''
-
S.M.Ryabchenko (Institute of Physics NASU, Kiev) '' NQR research of the
superconducting state of HTSC''
Above-mentioned lecturers are the leading scientists in the
field of the magnetic resonance and its applications for the research of
high-temperature superconductors.
More then 50 young scientists have taken part in work
of the School. Along with the ''schoolboys'', whose reports were selected
by Program committee, the undergraduate students, students of master course,
post-graduate students and young scientists practically of all high schools
and academic institutes of Kazan have an active part in School events.
The ten well-presented lectures aroused interest of the auditory,
stimulated heated disputes. The afternoon of each School day was devoted
to the 15-minute reports of the young scientists. The oral reports, instead
of posters, give an opportunity to acquire practical skills of scientific
presentation and participation in a gabfest discussion. It is necessary
to note, that in our days young Russian scientists have very seldom possibilities
to act with the oral report, and moreover to participate in conferences
as well. It was very useful an active participation of all lecturers in
arguing the youth reports.
The large interest was induced by the problem report,
submitted over the program of School, made by Prof. A.S.Moskvin (Ural University,
Ekaterinburg) concerned with novel view on the local nature of high-temperature
superconductivity.
Within the framework of School the competition among the
young scientists was run. The program committee has named three best reports
of the School:
-
A.P.Geraschenko (IMP of RAS, Ekaterinburg) '' A spin susceptibility in
Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O compounds with a different oxygen doping measured by Cu(63)
and O(17) NMR'';
-
E.L.Vavilova (KPTI, Kazan) '' A research of the phase separation in La2CuO4
electrochemically oxygen doped'';
-
I.R.Mukhamedshin (KSU, Kazan) '' A spin - lattice relaxation of the copper
nuclei in Tm-Ba-Cu-O at temperatures from 300K up to 0.34K ''.
The Diplomas of School Presidentship and presents were handed to the competition
winners.
In final stage of the School the Program committee together
with editors of the international electronic magazine '' Magnetic Resonance
in Solids.Electronic Journal (MRSej) '' recommended to 21 young participant
of the School to present the electronic versions of papers for their consequent
publication in the magazine.
The school stimulated also realization of regular training
in physics for Kazan high school students in ''Physical Mini-Faculty''
at KSU, where the young scientists KSU have a practice in teaching the
selected chapters of general physics. The total amount of '' Physical Mini-Faculty
'' is more then 65.
The detailed information about School can be received
in a web INTERNET (http://dionis.kfti.kcn.ru).
It should be mentioned that School'97 had a high scientific
level, good organization and creative atmosphere of all sessions. The advisability
of annual holding of such School was emphasized and the topic of School'98
- ''Magnetic resonance in solids'' (Kazan, June 1998) was offered. The
majority of participants spoke in recommendation of transfer it in a joint
international School of CIS countries, that would promote a raise of a
level of a science and international authority of scientific communities
of these states.
School'97 has become property of a history. More than
three months have passed from the moment when the last report was made,
the last question was pronounced and the last answers was given ... The
emotions settled, the organizational difficulties were forgotten and in
soul of the School participants there are impressions about the most interesting
reports and heated disputes, about new acquaintances and meetings with
the old friends - colleagues, and certain desire to meet again.
Let it be!
